Scientist, Genetic Engineering

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join us as a Scientist in our Therapeutic research team. The successful candidate will work with other scientists to generate a novel, proprietary transgenic mouse to expand our technology platform and support our drug discovery and development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and generate targeting vectors; transfect and screen modified mouse embryonic stem cells
  • Characterize transgenic mice using PCR genotyping, sequencing, southern blotting, and gene expression analysis
  • Maintain mouse embryonic stem cells
  • Maintain transgenic mouse colony
  • Analyze and communicate data; maintain good records of experiments
  • Regularly read the scientific literature and remain current on new technologies

Requirements:

  • PhD in genetics, stem cell biology, molecular biology or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with mouse ES cell culture and transgenic mouse generation
  • Strong molecular biology skills including DNA vector manipulation, PCR, qPCR, and gene cloning
  • Proficient in cell culture aseptic technique
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and record keeping
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate results to a diverse cross-functional audience

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of immunology
