We are looking for an experienced protein biochemist/molecular biologist to join our antibody discovery lab. The ideal candidate is a team player, with a passion for scientific research and drug discovery/development. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of protein biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition, they will have experience with analytical biochemistry (SEC, CE-SDS, LC/MS) and molecular biology (cloning, plasmid construction, sequence verification). The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory scale operations related to protein production (bacterial and mammalian cell culture, bioreactor/wave bag, cell harvest)
  • Perform laboratory scale protein purification (up to gram scale) using conventional chromatography and FPLC
  • Perform analytical studies of proteins
  • Keep good written and electronic records to support protein production and process improvement
  • Analyze results of data and prepare recommendations for improvement or trouble shooting

Requirements:

  • PhD with 0-3 years, or MS with 3-10 years of experience in Molecular Biology, Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry or other relevant discipline
  • Knowledge and experience in laboratory scale protein purification, employing Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC), Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Ion-Exchange (IEX), mixed mode chromatography and affinity chromatography
  • Experience with GE AKTA FPLC and unicorn software preferred
  • Hands on experience with analytical techniques, including HIC-HPLC, LC/MS, SEC, IEX, RP-HPLC, DSC, and capillary electrophoresis (e.g. reduced and non-reduced CE-SDS, icIEF)
  • Hands-on experience using MOE, Discovery Studio, Schrodinger, Rosetta or similar tools for protein structure modeling a strong plus
  • Previous experience in the discovery and development of bispecific antibodies is desired.
